Ground?

Hey all... Noob here.

Ok, here is the situation. I have a small day sailor with no electrical system (it did come with one, but that has long since left the building).

My First question is: Do I need a ground on a DC system (other then the negative side of the battery) ?

In my car the negative side of the battery is grounded to the frame and/or engine block... I have neither on this boat. I do have 8 keel bolts...

I do not plan on having an AC side (unless you count a trickle charger I plan on installing to maintain the battery.

OH, trough hulls... I do have one, but it's the cockpit drain... and I bet that would be a bad ground because of corrosion...

Any and all help would be great...

Thanks!

Jeff

Greetings, and WELCOME aboard, Jeff.

If
a DC Grounding System is installed, it will be connected to to the Engine or to a DC Negative Bus. Since you have no engine, you could merely connect the Battery Negative Terminal to the Negative Bus on the DC Panel (breakers or fuses).
