240v split phase inverting

what is the easiest way to get 240v split phase from an inverter? (need both 240 and 120 so need L1,L2,N output)

24vdc ~3000w

I have put in lots of 120v inverters but haven't needed to deal with 240v before.

I have seen 2 stacked inverters before. I'd rather not, I don't have much space.

victron talks about using a 240v inverter feeding their auto transformer to get the center tap for N. but I don't even see any 240v 60hz inverters on their website?...

does anyone make a 240v split phase inverter?

working on the most complicated AC system for a 40' boat I've ever seen and they want an inverter LOL.... no easy way to only put a 120v inverter in... who puts multiple 240v sub panels around a 40' boat and then uses each leg to feed different outlet circuits, a few outlets from each subpanel

Re: 240v split phase inverting

Outback Power Inc. - Integration Hardware Autotransformer You could go either way with inverter, 240v inverter & take it down to 120v with transformer or opposite way round, 120v inv & take it up with transformer, I would go inverter at same voltage as most loads & transform for occasion loads, Save a little on losses,

Hi SMAC999,

Quite correct Victron does not make a 240V inverter. For split phase you'll require 2x 120v Inverters stacked and an Autotransformer to balance the loads.

Re: 240v split phase inverting

Hi hybrid. thanks for the info. trying to fit 3 large boxes would be a nightmare.

funny as the vitron autotransformer info talks about a 240v inverter and shows a picture of one??

Re: 240v split phase inverting

"
Split phase options
Two units can be stacked to provide 120-0-120V, and additional units can be paralleled up to a total of 6 units per[/LEFT]
phase, to supply up to 30kW / 36kVA of split phase power.
Alternatively, a split phase AC source can be obtained by connecting our autotransformer (see data sheet on
Home - Victron Energy) to a ‘European’ inverter programmed to supply 240V / 60Hz."

looks like they can program a victron 240v 60hz inverter? do you know anything about this hybrid?

can you source me / recommend a 24vdc ~3000w 240v 60hz inverter / charger?

Re: 240v split phase inverting

SMAC999,

We are both correct. It gets a little confusing and I had to dive back into the product sheet and manuals a few times. one would assume the correct answer is in the inverter manual however the answer lies in both places written a little differently. The correct answer is in the autotransformer data sheet. Basically 3 options:

2x Ve 120V inverters stacked + auto transformer for balancing
1x 230v inverter - Ve re-programmed to 240v output + auto transformer
Any 240v inverter plus + Ve autotransformer

Never stop learning, thanks

Yes they can be reset. The procedure is in the Victron Multiplus manual. http://www.victronenergy.com/upload/...R-DE-ES-SE.pdf

Tell the owner it is stupid? And that he should do something more sensible?
