Re: NEW LAGOON 42 coming soon

I wonder if they are going to do it like the 39 and 52 design (mast aft)?

also maybe getting rid of the 380 and 400?

Re: NEW LAGOON 42 coming soon

interesting, originally it was the 39 that got me interests in catamarans but I switched my thoughts to the 400 for small little things that bugged me about the 39, then maybe the 450 sportop but no I still liked the 400, maybe the 42 will switch me again, until I'm ready its open

I wonder if they will retire the 380 and 400, how many steps do you need

for sure no need for a model in every foot?

better to do one well, than 3 just ok

Careka, you stole my thunder! Boot Dusseldorf it is!

Have been talking with Lagoon people in France and I get the rumour that they are trying to "stage manage" it's release and perhaps try to create a bit of hype. "It's a secret, but if you're interested..... ".

They wouldn't mind a few, or lots, of preorders. Much like Fountaine Pajot have done with their New 40. By the way, what will it be called when it is old? An "Old New 40?". Or perhaps a "middle aged 40"?

I'll start, or rather spread the rumour from La Rochelle that says that the Lagoon 400's days are numbered. Perhaps not to be replaced.

26,640 pounds light displacement. The old TPI 42 was 10,000 pounds less!

Ah, the good old days!

If you want a fast Lagoon, buy an old one. (Fast, In relative terms!)

While they may be both 42 feet (give or take) long, that is where the similarity ends. The new one will have much greater beam, volume, load capacity, equipment levels and comfort. Yes, and therefore much heavier. Yet it will still fit into a 42 foot berth. It will also be more expensive, easier to sail, slower, more complicated and argueably less seaworthy.

Isn't it nice to have a choice?

Re: NEW LAGOON 42 coming soon

Seriously - 12 tonne for 42 foot (presuming it is 42 foot, the 39 is actually 37 foot) I mean seriously? I am not sure how they actually manage to make it so heavy, that takes a special sort of talent. That will mean 14-15 tonne in reality, with the tiny main rig. I get that some people don't want to sail, just pretend to when its nice and off the breeze - so why not ditch the boom and main all together, its not like anyone will use them. That rig, that weight that hull form, not really a sail boat any more, just a motor boat with a rig.

Re: NEW LAGOON 42 coming soon

the weight seems to follow the size almost ... the 39 seems too heavy, 380 too light

380 --- 7,26 t / 16008 Lbs
39----- 11,673 t / 25739 Lbs
400 ----10,348 t / 22817 Lbs
42----- 12 t / 26 460 lbs (probably be more like 13t)
450 ----15,50 t / 34178 Lbs

what is important also is max load you can carry no?

what is important to me is comfort if living on a boat, you would want some creature comforts/ toys. I would give up some speed for comfort.

now days lagoon is a condo on water, not meant to race, meant to enjoy the ride

But do you want to sail in under 20 knots of breeze? Cause this thing won't.

I think that is a bit over dramatic.
