Tonga to wherever

Hey
I gonna fly to Tonga in about two weeks to escape from the rough winter in dunedin. I would love to find a boat which is sailing from Tonga to some other southern pacific islands in september or october. I am sailing since I can walk and used to teach kids for a couple of years, but never really had the chance to make experiences on the open ocean yet.

Please contact me and send me some information if you are going on this trip

Cheers
Leah

Sorry to say, but it's the middle of the hurricane season in Tonga and so not much sailing for the next few months.

Uhhh, mate, I think you may be a bit confused. July, as you should know being a Kiwi, is the middle of the freaking winter, not cyclone season. September and October are the prime movement months for that region as the less secure folks head out to avoid cyclone season which officially starts on 1 November, and usually really starts in those waters in December or even later.

It's not nice to distribute advice which is so wrong!

Re: Tonga to wherever

You must excuse him Jim Cate, he's from Wellington where it feels like a hurricane all the time and he must have had his head knocked.

There's a reason all the cruisers go to the islands for the months of March - October... and its not because they are all hunting cyclones.

Good luck to the Tonga bound hitch-hiker.
