Re: sail whitsunday to port douglas

boat is at Airlee marina, called able point marina almost in town, easy walk to town bus available from Proserpine airport think $15/20 dollars drops off at marina
fly out of Cairns Airport I hire a car from Port Douglas to Cairns about one hour trip. or buses available, Marina is right in Town, port Douglas has about 20 restuarants and 4 hotels modern tourist town very popular in winter. steve

Re: sail whitsunday to port douglas

Hi Steve,

Sailed with you last year twice, had great trips.

Since sailed Magnetic Island race week, Cairns/Louisiades/Townsville, Townsville to Sydney, Perth to Melbourne, circumnavigated Tasmania, Hobart to Sydney and a couple of hundred hours racing.

Anyone looking to sail with Steve should have a great trip he is a safe, competent and experienced sailor who is also relaxed, very easy to get along with and lots of fun.

Steve is definitely a people person, loves to have a conversation and likes to meet people along the way. The boat is very comfortable and in excellent condition.

Great to see you still enjoying sailing.

Kind regards,
Anthony.

Re: sail whitsunday to port douglas

Would love to come with you Steve, but have been cruising a lot lately and I am trying to get into work (money) at the moment so resisting temptation to sail.

I am saving myself for my fourth trip to the Louisiades, PNG (hopefully) although I haven't as yet found a boat to crew on.

Re: sail whitsunday to port douglas

Hi Steve,
I would be interested in joining your trip. My sailing experience has been a few months sailing my Space Sailer around Perth. I am familar with your area having lived in Seaforth north of Mackay, and in the 70's worked a short time at Daydream and South Molle resorts. Being retired, my time is flexible. I don't drink or smoke. Would like to to do some diving along the way, but don't carry a scuba tank with me everywhere like the old days.

If you think I would fit in, I would work out the logistics of the the trip. Based on my present knowledge, first depart Perth to Mackay, take a plane or bus to Proserpine, then the bus to Airlee Marina. Then return from Port Douglas via Cairns. Is your boat available to occupy a day or two before departure and after arrival?

Norm

Re: sail whitsunday to port douglas

Norm sounds good, surprised there is a plane, Perth to Mackay, there would be a bus to Airlee Beach from Mackay or there is a train from Mackay to Proserpine, there
would be a bus from Proserpine to Airlee Beach
Just check there are no direct flights to Hamilton Island as there is a ferry service to Able point marina from Hamilton Island Airlee beach is a huge backpacker destination so cheap transport is nearly always available, give me an idea of your times and I can work around dates
My email is sawalsh@hotkey.net.au 0411743724 steve walsh
No problems staying on boat, but would try to arrive at same time,

Re: sail whitsunday to port douglas

Hi Steve,

How are you? Have you found crew yet? When do you plan to leave Airlie Beach?

I live on the Sunshine Coast QLD and have my own business I can and can fly up any time. I am 43yrs old and have had a bit of experience sailing a 38ft catamaran but want more experience. We have always had boats - smaller than yours of course. I have a normal boat licence. We plan to buy out own 40ft catamaran in the near future. I have family up in Cairns to visit, non smoker and happy to pay my way.

Let me know your plans if you are interested paul@arisheds.com

Regards, Paul.

Re: sail whitsunday to port douglas

Hi Steve
Have you sorted crew out yet? I'm out in the Whitsundays as a deckhand at the moment - getting to Airlie end of the week and would be up for Port Douglas as I was thinking of heading up that way... francesca.marsh86@gmail.com if you're interested - Fran
