Malta => Down African Coast

Hello,

I know this may be a wild request, and I'm not sure if ANYONE does the route from Malta down the East Coast of Africa. My final destination is Mozambique or South Africa or even Madagascar. If you know of anyone going in that direction, or you know of any information that could help me get to where I'm going, I would appreciate it. I'm looking to leave anytime after December 2011. (If you're reading this ad a long time after I posted it, still drop me a line, I will be looking for this route for a while)

More about me: Experienced Military Seaman. I have been aboard mainly motorized craft (aircraft carriers, cruisers), but have a bit of sailing experience. I am a physically fit, educated, and hard working individual. I don't get seasick, and I know my way around a boat. I am a small engine mechanic, a very good carpenter and have been trained in IT and communcations. I am honest, easy to get along with, and can promise to be a trustworthy dependable addition to any vessel. I like to cook, I don't smoke, and I am a very flexible problem solver.

Drop me a line.

Re: CREW MEMBER AVAILABLE: MALTA down Africa Coast

the red sea route is effectively closed to yachts these days,only yesterday a yacht was attacked.

if you are adventurous i reccomend going overland via egypt sudan to kenya,then finding a yacht to head south from mtwapa,dar es salaam or tanga.

Thanks for the input. If I were to hang out at a harbor in Malta, what are the chances I would find someone to head south? What about hopping on a freighter or some other non-yacht type vessel from Malta? Any input, as always is appreciated. I will be in Malta in a few weeks and I'm going to be a harbor rat until I find a ride. :-)

Re: CREW MEMBER AVAILABLE: MALTA down Africa Coast

On second thought, after reading some other profiles, I thought I would add a bit more about myself.

I have served in just about every position from deckhand, to navigator, to comm specialist while in the military. I have been to several schools to include Communications and IT (6 months), Combat Lifesaver (military EMT), combat swimmer, survival swim instructor, Nautical Anti Terrorism (Anti Piracy training). I have also taught women's self defense for several years and swimming lessons to children for a few years during college. I have been a SCUBA diver for over 15 years and an all around lover of the ocean.

I have done literally dozens of trips across the pacific and the atlantic via larger ships. I have sailed locally aboard smaller craft, but am looking to get onto a larger craft. I was recently in Africa thinking about going to Australia, but (long story) ended up in Europe, and now am trying to get back down to Africa starting in Italia or Malta.....

I know how to handle myself, enjoy life, live well, eat well, and consider myself to be a pretty cool dude. I have no medical issues, I don't smoke, but I do love a good glass of wine with my dinner.

There, now I feel better.

I'm a pretty cool dude and you should drop me a line.
