Crew Wanted: East Coast to remote South Pacific

The boat is a 38ft monohull that is being prepared to transit the Panama canal and do a voyage in the South Pacific visiting the more remote spots outside of the standard “milk run” route. The Marquesas are beautiful but with several hundred boats crowding the anchorages in March-May, I prefer doing the southern route initially. Desired destinations include the Australs, back up towards Tokelau and a few Polynesian islands that are politically part of the Solomons. I tend to enjoy cruising destinations where there is no airport, has infrequent supply ship visits and has less than five visiting yachts per season. Must stop in Fiji to re provision and surf Cloud break! Eventually loop back to Hawaii or continue towards Micronesia.

Currently, the boat is on the east coast (contact me for current location). The Caribbean will be explored on the way down but I prefer to spend a bit of time in Cartagena and in the San Blas.

Unpaid, share expenses, alcohol free environment, minimalist approach (little engine use, anchor out whenever possible, live at local standard of living)

Skipper has over 70,000 miles experience which includes a single handed circumnavigation (below Africa, Panama Canal)

Costs are shared and are based on food, fuel, moorage and clearance fees, and the occasional safety item like satellite phone minutes. On average, it comes out to anywhere from about 7 to 20 US dollars per day. It can be less in places like the South Pacific and more in places like the Caribbean. It also makes a difference when it comes to the amount of time spent on board. A shorter period will be more. You must also have enough money in reserve to be able to fly one way to your home country from wherever the boat is located.

I don't drink at all but don't mind if the crew does on occasion. It really comes down to having some self awareness about it and not just assuming that drinking is a normal part of things....

Looks like I will be in Annapolis, MD until after the boat show and then in late October I will head towards Norfolk, Virginia at the entrance to the Chesapeake. Most likely jump from there towards the Caribbean.

I like the sound of what you are planning,
finding some quiet surf spots would be a dream come true.
I hoped a freighter that services all the Gov. Lighthouses in Figi and discovered many nice Islands with warm friendly people and good surf peeling off with no one to ever surf them, that was years ago, but I still remember them.

Sounds like you need a surfing and diving buddy to help with crew and costs.

What sort of age group are we talking here?

I'm interested. When are you leaving? What is your general plan re: stops? I have a Cal 40 on the west coast which I single handle. I have sailed since I was a kid, am 62 and fit.

I just turned 45. Age doesn't matter as much as values. It is less elitist yacht clubs and fancy sounding certifications and more about being on the ocean.
