WTB: Steel Sailboat

Approximately 31 - 36 ft. LOA and roughly 13,000 to 17,000 lbs. I prefer a finished boat, but will consider substantially completed projects.

Hey, Norm. I don't know where you're located, but I have a free Dutch-built steel 28 footer with a Lister diesel (runs) that is free for the taking. It has some sails, but is a project boat. It's in the West Palm Beach, Florida area. Let me know if you're interested.

I should have mentioned that I'm in Southern California.

Thanks, Starfish, but that's too far away for a project boat.

How about a 31 foot sloop, needs mostly refinishing. painting and varnishing. Its located in toronto canada, a bit of a haul but Im sure the trucking companies would be decent as to price given the recent down turn. $15K Canadian. Whats that in US? $12.5k. And thats flexible. If you are interested, I'll email some pics to you. She can be ready to go with a bottom paint job. The rest you can do at anchor.

It's located in Riviera Beach, Florida (right by the Lake Worth Inlet). The engine runs and the stick is fine. Interior is rough. My son bought it for $750 about a year ago to fix it up. He bought it from another kid who had been living on it for two years and who intended to fix it up, but who then bought a bigger boat and sold this one. My son then decided he didn't like living on the boat while working on it and lost interest. Now he wants to move to Montana. We don't want the boat to rust away out there on the mooring, and we have our on boat nearby so are not interested in a project ourselves.

The Lister is what makes it a worthy candidate for a project boat for someone. I'll try to get some pictures & post or send them to you. It is a full-keel, heavy steel boat.

Hey, Guys,
The boat is still hanging on the hook. Never Monday said he was interested first, but we just want someone else to take title (and possesion), so unless Pat gets really mad at me it's first one to come up & get it. I can take you out to it for a look on our skiff, if you're in the neighborhood. PM me for my phone # if you want to drive up.

Oh, yeah,

I took some pictures Friday and will upload them tomorrow (Monday). It is a cool, little sailboat you can take into the deep water.

Meanwhile...

...I'm still actively looking to pay cash for a steel sailboat approximately 32 to 36 ft LOA and around 13,000 to 17,000 lbs displacement. I'll buy anywhere in the northwesten hemisphere if the boat and price are right.

I know the boat and the previous owner.Sailed with her from Brazil to Trinidad many years ago.The previous owner was Roy Wallbank who returned to England for medical treatment as he suffered a stroke, never paid the dockage and the rest is history. The boat was built in Holland,Roy sailed her to Brazil and across to Cape Town .Spent 2 years there then to St helena,Fernando ,Trinidad , St Maarten then across to North Africa then back to Brazil , to trinidad again and then to the USA.Did a trip to Belize and returned to the USA not feeling good.As he is British , he never had med insurance so decided to fly to the UK . The boat was behind a house off Riverland road in Ft lauderdale and while he was in medical facility , the boat was sold.Good little boat but top speed never exceeded 4.5 kn.I still have the life raft which fits the Stainless cradle on the coachroof as I had it serviced for him.At present he is in the Med.
