Watermaker

We bought our boat! A 31' Corsair, very Spartan but also very fast. We are now looking to do some improvements; any helpful advice from other Corsair owners is welcome. We need: a PUR 40E watermaker, a bimini & dodger, & an Engel fridge.

Re: Watermaker

I have a three year old Katadyn Power Survivor 40 E for sale. It makes 1.5 gallons per hour and uses 3-4 amps. It is very compact. It is still installed in my boat. asking $2500. Thanks

Re: Watermaker

Hello,

I am in San Diego. I installed the 40E prior to our cruises to Mexico in 2009 and in 2010. I am afraid our distance cruises are over due to bad knees, etc. My boat is for sale and I am sort of parting out the boat to be able to lower the price.

The 40E is very compact. So I put it is the head cabinet. I was able to plumb the seawater and the brine discharge by a tee below the head sink. We collected the purified water in flexible Coleman 2 1/2 gal. containers. We did not want to mix the pure water with dock water in our tanks. it worked out well. When the tanks were getting low, we simply poured the good water into the tank from the deck fill. For cooking and drinking, we restricted our use of the reverse osmosis water. We always tested the water with a PPM meter and were able to get as low a 200.

With the solar panels producing amps, we would generally run the water maker when the sun was high in the sky.

I estimate the 40E weighs about 20 lbs. Thanks for writing
