1984 Wauquiez Pretorien "Fully outfitted"

Well, while cruising New England this summer, Gretchen and I were bitten by bigger-boat-itis, and as a result, our beloved Alchemy is for sale. If you are looking for a very well equipped performace cruiser, that has a proven record of ocean crossings, she may be your boat. We bought her in 2010 and lavished alot of goodies and upgrades on an already well outfitted boat. As a result, here are some highlights

Spectra watermaker
Silentwind wind gen
290w of solar
LIFEPO4 batteries!!!!
hardly broken in sails, Fully battened main and 130% Genoa constructed of Hydranet. If you don't know what this cloth is, do some research. We chose it as the BEST material for a cruising boat we could have used.
Webasto diesel heater
Simrad NSS7 chartplotter, Below deck autopilot and broadband radar. NMEA instrumentation + backup Furuno GPS and Navman depth

ETC ETC

Here is the listing. If you want more information, you can ask me or contact the broker to see the boat. She is on the hard at Port Annapolis in Annapolis, MD

Good luck with the sail sale; the Pretorian 35 is indeed a proven design, and I think while 35 feet is about as small as I would wish to go for offshore, it is very easily handled by a single watchstander than are some of the longer, higher-freeboard modern designs.

As a point of interest, you are now the second guy I know of "from the Internet" with a boat named Alchemy. There's a guy with a 42-footer Alchemy out there, too. As far as I know, I'm the only Canadian (and mine's federally registered).

Re: 1984 Wauquiez Pretorien "Fully outfitted"

Thanks guys. We cruised her from NC to the Bahamas, the Chesapeake and up to Maine. She always did right by us, and if we had the $$$, we would have bought a larger sibling, but alas, the funds were not there. We are taking a break from cruising, going to work (Gasp), did not want to move ashore, and wanted something that we could ready in the future for the next round.

Funny thing about the size, 30 years ago, a 35 foot sailboat was "Big", now it is mid-sized, but I guess that is the American way.
