Battery Box ?

Hi, I'm pretty new here, but I just bought a FP Venezia and have about a million questions...

First off, does anyone know where the batteries are supposed to be located?

I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to be sitting on the engine room floors, since they floors are starting to cave in... I gotta find a better home for the batteries before I can rebuild the floors.

Thanks

BTW: I love the boat so far!

Batterie location depends of the make of the ship.
In general, they should be stored, in a dry ventilated area of the ground, covered on top to protect (metal) things can shortcut.
A box is nice but not to thight around ...... !!ventilation !!

Good luck with your boat

On the Belize, they sit on a shelf just midship of the starboard engine room. I've been on a Venezia, but don't remember the engine room configuration.

Re: Battery Box ?

I have a 2000 Venezia and the house batteries (4 X 100amp) are sealed gel cells so do not have have to worry about ventilation issues. When I bought the boat they were in the cockpit under floor locker and getting wet, so I have now relocated under the saloon bunk to move the weight forward.
I have also seen them in the starboard switchroom above the rear bunk on another Venezia.
Hope this helps

Re: Battery Box ?

Thanks. I thought about that cockpit floor locker, but agree that it seems to be wet all the time. I don't seem to have a "switchroom" locker above the aft starboard bunk. There is a small access panel from the lazzarette to a small compartment which the steering cables run through and there is a floor drain in the compartment. It's hard to imagine shoe-horning the batteries in there though.
I agree the weight would be better forward.

Re: Battery Box ?

my bahia 46 has them in the room above the engine room on a shelf with a ledge. A strap holds them all down. No need to put them in a box unless you plan on flying a hull
