Which Mobile App?

Hi All:

Long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

I have the Garmin BlueChart app on my smartphone – love it. Unfortunately, we're about to do a trip in a new area (that I don't already have BlueChart maps for) – and since BC is no longer supported, I'm trying to figure out which app to replace it with.

Needs Summary

• We mostly use the app for Caribbean bareboating.
• For our use, the features/functionality of BlueChart is great.
• Key: Needs to function independently on my smartphone. We don't own a boat. Don't need or want the app to interface to onboard chart plotters, don't want it to need to pull my maps from laptop, etc. Just the smartphone.

That said, should I go with the new Garmin ActiveCaptain app, or Navionics, AquaMap, others? Biggest differences to consider?

With everyone's experience here, I figured someone could shorten my learning curve.

i've been using navionics caribbean/south america app on my android tablet for 3 years now and am very happy with it...more so than my garmin bluechart chartplotter. navionics has more accurate basemap and depths and great features like cruisers community notes on anchorages and a "boat to" function to destinations.
