SAT2CHART can't create charts from polygons

My set up:
Windows 10
Sat2chart v3.0.4.0
SAS.planet 190114.9821
GDAL-204-1911-core
ooRexx 5.0.00.11579-x86_32
Monitor resolution 1366x768

I can create charts fine from SASplanet screens but when I try to create from a polygon I get the following error:

Error: gdal_translate failed gdalrc=1
ERROR 4: Attempt to create new tiff file `C:\SAT2CHART\SAT2CHART.V3.0.4.0\temp\quilt_GE_Bac kground_Image_1555518849.tif' failed: Permission denied

Quilt_thread bad rc from R_Create_Quilted_Kap for chart_name=tiled_1 the rc=OK

In the temp file mentioned as having permission problems I can see that the process has successfully written some files in there so why it fails at some point I have no idea. I've tried using both GE and ArcGIS.Imagery as the map sources in SASplanet.

I recognise this is not an OpenCPN problem per se but would be interested to know if anyone could help me.

Many Thanks

Well it seems only to fail while trying to produce kap files. I don't have any problem if instead I select mbtiles as the output format.

I have reported this problem already and the response from the OpenCPN group was to terminate OpenCPN before creating an existing mbtiles chart as OpenCPN has a lock on the chart that already exists. Not a good solution in my opinion.

MBTiles is a database, closing and reopening the database after each query just so that you can overwrite it with new, completely different database anytime you decide it was a good idea completely out of scope would be a performance disaster, we can not allow that, sorry.

Paul

Thank you but I think my problem may be different from the one you're referring to. I get the error when I create charts on my Windows PC. It doesn't have OpenCPN on it at all, I just use it to generate charts as it's a pretty powerful machine. I run OpenCPN on an RPi.

Having discovered that I can generate mbtiles charts then the SAT2CHART/SASplanet combo works just fine for me. It just doesn't like making KAP charts from paths or polygons in my set up. Your effort in providing SAT2CHART is very much appreciated, it's astonishingly useful; thank you sincerely.

I don't understand why you want to create KAP charts when the color resolution on mbtiles charts is so much better.

I can't disagree with that Terry but would be keen to know why the other option doesn't seem to work as it should.

It does work for me with Windows 10 (two different machines) so you have a local problem to sort. Good luck.
