Looks good.

A note to Canadian users, you will need to upgrade your BSB plugin to that latest version and then use Update Controls to view CHS charts.

So far so good on the desktop; will update the Netbook next.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

I'm having a problem with ENC charts for Region 9. Screen 1 shows Silver Bay MN, everything looks OK. I zoom in one level and Screen 2 seems way overzoomed. I can pan around and find land, but I don't recognize anything.

I've tried other harbors and they seem OK.

If enc's had place names I might consider using them since they now display text right side up when using couse up. I assume that I could (this winter) create an overlay of place names that would work with course up????? Might be a good project to replace the now defunct DMA chart project???? I would start with Lake Superior and then Lake Huron and the North Channel.

Sure they have place names! You just have texts turned off. Check your settings in Toolbox > Vector Charts.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

Help a beginner, please. I have OpenCPN 3.2.1 loaded for me by a sailing friend (now gone cruising so I can't ask him questions). Am slowly learning how to use the software - for puddling around my local sailing waters near Cape Town - BUT can't manage to get a track to show up on the chart. My position is indicated by the red boat but no track! Is it me (probably) or am I using "old" software? Would 3.0.0 help? If so, how do I install?

Click the "Toolbox" icon on the toolbar, go to "Language/Fonts" tab, select text element "RouteLegInfoRollover" and Choose Font...

Hard to know, since there is no 3.2.1 version existing
But in general, 3.0.0 is a well tested release and should be OK.
The installation instructions are here: Installing OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Ooops! My typing is as bad as my sailing! Should have been 2.3.1.

2.3.1 is fairly ancient, you are probably better of installing 3.0 since you will get better support from this forum by running a current release.

Thanks, tried it yesterday: Banghead:,
but today everything was fine.: Blomster:

Also thanks for the nice colors ..........

For the Swedish and other Scandinavian types out there who have grown up with a brighter look on their charts, here is a treat for you. In the very soon to be released 3.0 I have done lots of work to make the chart rendering more customizable (Works fine in the latest beta too). So we can now have charts that look more like home

I'm only looking at region 9 and I tried all the "Chart Display Style Buttons", "Display category" buttons and check boxes, have set all the "Mariner's Standard" boxes, and CM93 Zoom details. What else can I try?

Sounds weird. In the screenshot you posted there is not a single text visible. (The depth soundings are technically not texts, they are drawn as images)
If you have texts switched on and the "Other" display category activated you should definitely see a lot more texts.

Maybe you have a problem with your text font? Try going to the Languages/Fonts tab in the toolbox window, and choosing some different font for the ChartTexts text element.

In the /Tool Box/Language/Fonts/Text Element/ I don't have a selection for Chart Text. ???

Please read the first three lines in Vector Charts | Official OpenCPN Homepage.

The "Show ENC Text" button was not activated in the screen dump in your #33 post.
