OA an excellent tool for trekkers

When GeoTiIFF files of topographic maps are loaded in an Android device running OA, it gives an excellent tool for trekkers.

For example, USGS Historical Topographic charts are available from here.

The latest versions of GE2KAP can be used to create .kap charts from the downloaded GeoTIFF files.

I have loaded my Samsung Galaxy Note2 with a chart of the Napali coast on Kauai, Hawaii. This is a trail I hiked and camped in the 1980s. Here are some screen shots from OA showing the trail, marked as the lighter dashed line.

I wish I had this capability back in the 80's!!
