Maybe someone else has thought of this but since many of us are using "the same account" of Ocpn on multiple machines and devices is it possible that they can 'sync' and when we have WiFi then routes, tracks and way points can be updated?

Yes, this is a goal of mine. The idea is then multiple instances on the same machine will work well together, but also across machines. All nmea data will be shared as well as routes and tracks. The overall idea isn't too difficult, but implementing it efficiently (in terms of network traffic) and dealing with all the details is a big job.
