VDO Tach

Would anybody have experience on the calibration of a VDO tach which is OEM Perkins installed. I have changed the alternator to a Balmar 100 amp 6 series and installed serpentine belts. The ratio is 3 between the crank and alt sheeves. The tach runs a way faster than the engine is running.

Thanks

Fletch

Re: VDO Tach

Need a photo tach to check engine and then adjust tach as required.

Re: VDO Tach

VDO publishes the tach calibration procedure on their website. Basically, you push a small button on the back while turning it on, and it goes into calibration mode. You probably won't need to change the number of poles - rather just bump the course and fine calibration to match the new pulley ratio.
