Raymarine Chart Plotter with AIS, Radar upgrade

When I purchased my boat it came with standard charter electronics kit. Currently it has a 2006 vintage Raymarine RC435 and ST60 instrument cluster. It also has a ST6001 auto pilot.

As I will be long distance cruising with the boat, I want to upgrade the electronics to include both AIS and Radar. Raymarine has a number of choices for multi-purchose displays A, C and E Series. I am looking for ease of use, functional display and to spend as little as I have to to get the right equipment.

Does anybody hear have an experience with some of the newer electronics and having integrated those into a stock charter boat?
