Re: Random spikes in GPS track

So you are saying, the long documented causes of inaccuracy and interference in the GPS system, caused by the earth's magnetic fields and emissions from the sun, are an ongoing problem that is still actively interfering with the system.

Not to worry, the military has folks whose sole job is to eliminate sources of interference. They'll get those magnetic fields and solar emissions shut down sooner or later, to improve system performance. (D'oh!)

That's their job.

Re: Random spikes in GPS track

GPS has always been susceptible to multi-path effects. By careful signal processing these can be minimised and I reckon - without any sound evidence whatsoever - that modern receivers using all-in-view satellites are less likely to have problems than older designs. If you have recurring problems try changing your GPS.
