Internet via Aircard in Bahamas ?

We'll leave the Chesapeake soon...head down the ICW to Florida and the Bahamas. We plan to use an aircard (data via cell phone) in the PC for Internet connection in the US.

Has anyone had success using an aircard in the Bahamas? How well did it work? Can you recommend a particular device or a Bahamas-based carrier company?

Thanks!

Why not use Wi-Fi? Just make sure the antenna you buy comes with the RF unit at the base of it. Signal loss in coax is huge at those frequencies (2.4 Ghz). Right on this site is a long thread on Wi-Fi.

Here are all the wi fi hotspots in the Bahamas.

I've had pretty good luck with wifi in the Bahamas.

If you use AT&T or T-Mobile in the US your aircard should work throughout the Bahamas but it will be expensive. If you can get an unlock code from your carrier, or buy a quad-band GSM air card that is already unlocked you can put a Batelco SIM card in at much lower prices. Batelco is the only service provider in the Bahamas.
