It's a good book...walks thru installation and operation for the most common uses. ICOM should include it with every radio shipped.

Ditto what dotdun said. I have Marti Brown's book and it is exactly what you want if you are looking for a cook book style guide. It doesnt cover everything but it does cover enough to get you started, assuming you already have a good installation (a big if)

ICOM M802 Channels list and question about tuning

1. I got SSB ICOM M802 Transceiver on board, preparing it for use.
I downloaded list of channels from ICOM website. File "M802 Frequency Programming042707.pdf".
However list of channels in this document does not match channels programmed om my Transceiver. (for example Weatherfax SF station Pt. Reyers in the document listed as channels 39, 41, 42, 43, 44. On my Transceiver it is programmed as channels 78, 80, 81, 83.) How can this be? Where can I find list of channels matching my M802 Transceiver?

2. The M802 comes with AT140 Tuner. I noticed that I can use tuner on some channels but on others (specifically, group WFX) I can not use the tuner - it always set to THROUGH. Is it an error in settings?

The Icom document you reference is simply the latest user channel frequency list that is programmed into the M802's that are currently shipping. Yours is programmed with an earlier version. You can manually re-program the user channels yourself. The WFX channels are weatherfax frequencies and are receive only so you cannot use the tune function. The through function of the AT-140 bypasses the tuning elements and connects the antenna directly to the radio for improved reception.
