Chart plotter - Suggestion / Recommendations

Chartplotter died... its a Navman 5507. It is still working, but the screen has gone dark, so you really can't make out the display (although it still gives correct information to to our on-deck GPS repeater).

Given that Navman (and Northstar?) are now defunct, repair seems unlikely.

So, we are looking for suggestions / recommendations for a new chart plotter. We are not looking for top-of-the-range, huge screens with all the bells and whistles, just a basic, reliable simple-to-use chartplotter, preferably with a colour screen.

Thanks for your input

E-machines notebook... 157 euro
CM93 2011... Free
GPS tracker... 45 euro
OpenCPN... Free

I could find nothing cheaper/more portable/more versatile...

Re: Chart plotter - Suggestion / Recommendations

The Garmin GPSMAP 740 would do the trick.
Touch screen and color
Add radar later if needed
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=148&pID=37721

Easy to use, even my 1st mate uses it.

Re: Chart plotter - Suggestion / Recommendations

Garmin GPSMAP 547 or Lowrance HDS-7 Gen 2
The Garmin is newer technology, wifi, and GLONAS compatibility, the Lowrance has a bigger screen and radar compatibility.
