Shaft Flange Removal On Beneteau 36cc

I need to replace the dripless packing on my Beneteau 36cc. Obviously I must remove the flange from the shaft to do this. Most flanges that I've worked with have a simple set screw that must be loosened which releases the shaft. I don't see one. How do you get the thing off?

Thanks, Greg.

Re: shaft flange removal on Beneteau 36cc

hi
i have hull 58 from 1998
it does have such a set skrew where the shaft is connected to the gearbox.
and two locking screws as well. all three need to come off.

i am going to replace mine too. but it has not leaked a drop during 4000 hours.
impressive

i am now on the third cutless bearing.
those are easy to replace:
pull off the propeller, unscre the plastic bolt holding the cutless bearing and pull it out.
cheap and good design

cheers.

Re: shaft flange removal on Beneteau 36cc

I have a bene 473, 2001 build.
The coupling is held in place with a woodruff key and a nyloc nut fitted to the end of the shaft, and set inside the coupling. The nut is not visible but can be felt.
If memory serves me, I think it needs a M17 socket to remove.
