Boat buying question.

First please forgive my ignorance. I am going shopping for a boat. The last boat I purchased was a 25' sloop and that was 20 years ago. I am now looking to move up into a 41-45 foot boat which I plane on spending most if not all my time on (I am getting ready to retire). I am thinking of making a trip south to look at a 1977 Gulfstar center cockpit.

My question is, the asking price posted on yachtworld, are those usually posted with room for negotiation? (I have never gone through a broker before). I am not looking to "low ball" or cheat anyone I just want the best deal possible and thought it would not hurt to ask here.

Those prices are an asking price. Offer what the boat is worth to you, but base that worth in comps, or deficiencies, etc....
