Anyone have direct experience shipping boat from Asia to USA?

If so, talk to me please I have some questions for you. I've been looking at this, but everywhere I've looked are cost prohibitive in the extreme, so I figure I'm missing something here. Ergo, I'm looking for someone to enlighten me please.

It is very expensive. Better to sail it yourself or find a skipper to sail it across for you.

Not good options for me at this time. Lots of boats being made in Asia, they are not sailed to the USA, how are those boats getting here?

Most of them are shipped over as deck cargo. Talk to a shipping company. They should be able to help you.

Yachts, last year had my 14-ton, 35-by-13-foot motorboat shipped from China to California on a container ship. It cost about $28,000 (not including shipping cradle). You will need to select and deal with a shipping agent and a customs agent.

I can send you the shipping/loading report if you think it would be helpful. You will need to send me your email address via a PM so I can attach/send the document.

You are not missing anything. They are either shipped or sailed. If you talk to a dealer of a brand manufactured in Asia (or any country for that matter) they will quote you a price for shipping.

The boat's builder recommended the shipping agent I used, but this site might be helpful.

Find a boat shipping partner

Re: Anyone have direct experience shipping boat from Asia to USA?

I know about that one!! Was sold to someone in middle east, but the crane was rigged wrong and dropped the boat. As I remember one guy broke an arm or collar bone and the boat sunk. So much for experienced riggers, huh?

Thanks for input, few shipping agents in these parts who deal with anything but containers, that is the frustrating thing. Thanks though.
