Lots of talk about "exchange rate fees". They are not the killer - you have to look at the actual exchange rates in use and how big the spread is away from the "mid-rate".

You are frequently looking at 3-5% either side, especially for USD ir AUD denominated cards used in developing/3rd world currencies and vice versa.
