Spinlock : 5D or VITO

Hello,

We are going to be doing some offshore sailing in the S Pacific soon.

I need to upgrade my life jacket so are looking at the Spinlock 5D 170N but I see they have the VITO out which was designed for the Volvo Ocean Race.

Would seem to be a product that has all the features of the 5D but is cheaper.

Anyone know more?

Cheers

Al

I don't know anything about the VITO except for the advertising info but going by the advertising info, it seems to be better than my 5D.

The fine adjustment method, HRS and the 40mm legstraps are real advantages IMHO.

I own a 5D and I love it. Make sure that you get an Hammar Hydrostatic system. Less chances of an accidental inflate. They also don't have to be changed has often as the water soluble ProSensor.
I don't know the price of the VITO. Looks good.
If you buy a tether, buy a Y ( 3 POINTS ). This allows you to always be clipped in when moving around.
Both have crotch straps, and do wear them.
Do buy the additional side packs, chest pack or belt packs. They will allow you to carry a VHF and other useful things.
