GRIB files

Hi to all,can anyone please tell me more on GRIB files.I have downloaded and have it working but would like to have the colour windscale for direction arrows and how to we get hectapascals on the isobar lines.hope someone can help me.Thankyou,

You do not need a colour windscale for winds, just read the wind barbs.

What grib viewer are you using? I use Ugrib. The cursor position tells me the BP, wind speed and direction for that lat long. The colours are really meaningless.

I routinely use wind barbs and colours with Zygrib...
