Who builds West Marine dinghys?

I am looking to purchase a new dinghy. Saw the West Marine dinghy line yesterday and thought they reminded me of Caribe dinghys so I got to wondering who builds dinghys for West Marine.

According to people at our local West Marine here in Annapolis, they are made in China.

Yes they are, saw them in 2 factories.

Less than a year ago a West Marine fellow told me it used to be Zodiac but with the poor service they had they switched to a new supplier whom he didn't know

Yes, I'm sure it was just "service"--more likely it was "cost"! I am not a fan of West Marine inflatables. They are favorably priced and I'm sure West Marine makes a bundle on them. I think APEX (made in Costa Rica) is a lot better dinghy but it does cost more.
