Jock Burroughs self steering

I first came across Jock's self steering design in John Letcher's "Self Steering", p. 148, where he showed a simple drawing. Recently, I have found three models of Jock's self steering design in the original version of the AYRS publication "Self Steering", pgs 97-99.

While the design is not complex, I am not a fan of reinventing the wheel. In that regard, I am hoping that someone here might have built a version of the Jock Burroughs self steering, knows someone who has or has some ideas for a DIY version. Things like bearings used and sizes/ratio of drums, etc.
