Turnbuckle boot end caps

Can you help me find? West Marine and my local go to (Hamilton Marine in Maine) report Davis is no longer making or selling these either 1.5 inch or 1.75 inch white caps and they don't have any and they have no alternative suppliers. Maybe they stopped making the boots too? Any leads or ideas?

The Admiral fired up the sewing machine and made eight of these nifty turnbuckle covers for our Island Packet. Easy opening for inspection with the Velcro fastener. After almost one full year they are working out great.

yes, and get the plugs, drill them and have the whole thing for a fraction of the cost.

We use PVC cuts.

If they wobble at the top, you can cut a fine soft plug out of thick EVA foam.

Mostly! They can make snagging something harder like a toe.

They prevent the sheets from chafing against stays & turnbuckles.

Dave and Cadence and all, the PO put the usual white turnbuckle pvc boots on with the end caps. When the mast went back up the yard neglected or broke (it's missing) one of the six end caps. So I have five ok looking ones and one that is just a tube without cap. Call me compulsive but it looks crummy to me. I guess these just went out of production but they were only $2 apiece and they are in the current west marine catalog so it's just a tad frustrating. This is probably not worth all the fuss but I still appreciate your practical suggestions. If this is the biggest problem I have, then I am truly in great shape!

Try a PVC pipe plug from Home Depot. Probably around 50 cents. Drill a hole in the center and saw in from the side. Pretty much the same thing as the Davis part.

Thanks for being so polite. I had put some on years back. I think it made for a good appearance and I think the genny may have not have chaffed. I know what you mean about the compulsion. One of those little things that will drive you nuts.

In Aus, the white PVC tube is water grade pressure pipe, with end caps (rather than plugs) to suit.
Wanted the white because the grey looks wrong.
I use long lengths as shroud rollers.

I found those white plastic covers kept moisture in, and stopped me from inspecting the turnbuckles. Over time the covered portion of the stay turned green, and corrosion started on the SS hardware. I have removed all my plastic covers with no regrets.
