Profurl L31 roller furling

Ahoy you Salty Dogs and Cats...

Wondering if anyone knows where I can get additional extrusions for the L31 Profurl?

I have checked at the big names online and even call Wichard/Profurl. They informed me that they haven't made that furler since the late '80's and the extrusions are no longer available.

How did I come by this marvelous piece of obsolete gear you ask? Ebay. It was listed as "new" had pictures of a nice shiny profurl. They stated the unit had been used as a display model and was brand new. I won the auction for $493 and I'm stuck with an unusable and obsolete "new" roller furling. The seller, of course, won't take it back...but that is a whole other story.

I'm looking to salvage this possible loss by locating any Profurl Extrusions with a diameter of 31mm. I would need 30' or 5 extrusions. Any ideas, info or thoughts?

If you haven't already tried Sailorman in Ft. Lauderdale and Bacons in Annapolis, you might want to. Also might be worth a call to Chesapeake Rigging in Annapolis, and to other large rigging outfits.

Somebody, somewhere in Florida or the SE U.S. has gotta have these parts from a hurricane-damaged boat.

Looks like a good site. I'll give them a call tomorrow for my specific needs as I didn't see my furler listed.

And, if you don't mind doing a little digging, Minneys Yacht Surplus in Costa Mesa. They are fairly on top of their inventory, but there is a stack of parts on the roof that no one could keep track of. There is a chance that you might find what you want and be able to put your hands on it. Only a daysail away

Now there's a thought! I never would've considered the mish-mash of stuff on top of those containers in the back yard!!!! I'll check it out!

Well i successfully removed the rollers with out stepping the mast, disassembled the unit, bought new bearings and seals, reassembled and installed teh unit. It works great. In fact this thing must have been worn out at least 3 years ago....Thanks to aussiebray!
