New England Ropes swallowed up

by a European company??

Maybe not news to many, but I was surprised when I went to the New England Ropes web site and found that it was now Teufelberger Fiber Rope Co.

Another American manufacturer on hard times?

Doesn't necessarily mean it was on hard times, although that's quite possible. Some companies are acquired simply because they're good businesses and have the potential for a good return.

Re: New England Ropes swallowed up

The acquisition was completed in 2007. Most likely looking for efficiencies and perhaps a more global position - German company looking to expand into the US. Still pretty high flying times in 07 - maybe just an opportunity to cash out?
