Just purchased a 33' Cutter
The Main has three reefs
; slab reefing
There is a small 'reefing' winch
ready to mount, but the current
owner says he was never certain where to put it.
There are gallows for the boom, thus seems reasonable to reef and pull that Luff down by hand.
1. What benefit from using a winch
(A. - both , pulls the Luff down and the clew OUT ... any others advantages?)
2. Wanting the advantage(s) of the winch , then where best to put it?
(A. Any handy place on the side of the forward end of the boom?
Port side maybe - to get 'right-of-way'?
Do people ever put them on the mast
