Harken Switch Battcar system?

I'm considering a new mainsail track and luff hardware; anyone out there have experience with the Harken Switch Battcar system?

Had one on our last boat. Prior to installing the split track, I would have to climb two steps up the mast to reach the halyard or secure the sail cover. It worked great and never had a problem with it.

Re: Harken Switch Battcar system?

Can you comment on the relative total cost for such a system?

Thanks,

Tom

Relative to what?

I am unaware of any other manufacturer who makes a similar track system. If there is, I never compared cost as I prefer Harken equipment. It was not inexpensive but it was 'worth it' to me to provide the convenience. It effectively lowered the stack height by half and if you have the large cars, that's a big 'half'.

We changed ours to the Harken last year. Much easier to haul the main sail up and it drops without any effort. Cost a bit, but we reckon it was worth it.

Tides Marine, Inc., offers a sail track system. Has anyone any experience with them?

Re: Harken Switch Battcar system?

I have the Tides Strongtrack. Love it. I considered the Harken (most everything on my boat is Harken). The stack height is higher on the Harken, and the cost was much more. The Harken is a great product, but did not fit my needs.
