Gooseneck rotate or not to rotate.

My gooseneck has snapped and I am going to to fix it but this time I want to allow it to rotate a little as I generally keep the traveler centered and I think its the twisting thats caused it to fail.
So. Are there any issues with doing this?.
I will load some pics now and a couple more tomorrow.
Actually I only have this one atm.Click image for larger version

Fundamentally, no, if you do it with the right hardware. Is that a Hall boom? Looks like it.

Sorry. I don't know what brand of boom it is?
Regarding rotation. I see that most booms don't rotate.
But there must be allot of rotational force applied by the main sheet when the boom is out past the extents of the traveler.

Is there any specific reasons for not allowing the boom to rotate a bit?
