Prop cleaning in the water

I try not to ablate my ablative paint any quicker than necessary. Do not mind the time it takes. Kind of an underwater bonding experience with her.

Understood. But using the proper pad will not remove any more paint than your gloved hand will. But if what you're doing works for you, more power to you.

Bought a copper wire brush for the prop.

I have been putting half a chlorine block into a plastic bag and wrapping it around my prop.
It appears to work well as preventer.

Just the bag works as well for us. No oxygen, no food=no critters.

Stainless 3-in-1 paint scrapers work wonders popping off and removing hard barnacle growth on props, followed by a brushing with a stainless steel wire brush, and finally a nice scrub with a 3M pad as suggested. Fstbttms is the man... knows his stuff :: twothumbsup

:::that's the ticket wsmurdock. Works well to remove scale from the shaft and in tight spots too. Take care not to gouge into the prop though. Learn to properly handle the tools being used in any application and you can't go wrong.
