mercruiser mc-1 gimbal housing repair idea

i am hoping to run a Mercruiser mc-1 gimbal housing repair idea I have by you guys and see what you think.

on my Mercruiser mc-1 gimbal housing the clamp ring for the ujooint bellows has corroded away some on the bottom. and I was looking at the kits from GHRKITS but I cant see paying $300 for a pvc ring so it got me to thinking why could I not use the same principal but epoxy in place a stainless steel ring. However what I am not sure about is corrosion from the ss and alum will I need to worry about this since they will be isolated from each other by the epoxy?

Thanks,
Yonu
