Since the OP mentioned a Technician class, I could only assume he was under the ARRL system. If it was the UK (RSGB), there is a Foundation, Intermediate and then an Advance license.

Among the roughly 200 countries issuing ham radio licenses, many of which include a Technician level and an honors level, Canada would be a better assumption.

Your country may not have an "Honours" licence. That doesn't mean the rest of the world has to follow your country's protocol. My information is totally correct and my country is bigger than your country, so there.

Yes. Amateur Extra to go anywhere in the world and use voice. In a REAL emergency - your feet are wet because you are sinking, you need NO license. Get the license and you will unlock another world. Tune your radio to 14.300.00 - the MMSN and see what I mean. v/r AC4MV...

Actually, I'm a Canuck, so double there.

Re: Is Ham Technician Enough

There are a great many websites with actual test questions. Google "Ham radio test questions." Study them for a week and you'll know the correct answer by reading the first few words of the question.

I sat for all three, tech, general and amateur extra and found them quite easy.

Re: Is Ham Technician Enough

This is a good online ham test site -- I used it when studying for my extra class license, but they also have technician and general class tests: AA9PW FCC Exam Practice » Amateur Radio Exam Practice
