Mustang 38 Cruiser seat removal

I have a 2004 38 MustangSports Cruiser and need to get the top seats out for re-upholstering. Can some body let me know how to get them out?

The top seats? Like those on the bridge? Or the seat backs?

Hi Sailmonkey,
The top seats both the helm seat and the lounge on the port side. The lounge stitching is about to give way and this the main one I want to get out. The base must come out some how as I think once you get that out the back rest is easy.

Hello Sam1950,

I have the same vessel model and year.I took my seats out last year.
The bench seat was purely fixed by 6 large dops of sealant. I lifted the front edge and carefully used a sharp steel paint scraper to cut the sealant blobs in half, then the bench seat lifted up. There was no indication there had ever been any screws, as the fibreglass mold is seamless (watertight) in that area.
Once you remove that, the back came away by the same method.
I have replaced the same way over six months ago and all is sweet.

Addendum to my earlier post on Mustang 3800 seat removal.
The method I used is for the Port passenger seats.
The helm seats on Starboard are held down by SS bolts. If you look under the helm seat in the access hatch in the seat base, you will see the bolts that hold the helm seat and the drop down extension in place.
