Keep it moving if you have a problem.
Why not verify right here? Here are my questions:
1. Is it a 36' boat or a 39' boat? You claim both.
2. When do you depart? Your friends supposedly "bailed out last minute"?
3. What experience do you have with long distance cruising?
4. Where can we find out about the specifics of your so-called Foundation, such as if it is a 501 c3 not-for-profit?
5. Why does the name of your organization not show up on a web search?
6. Are you just trying to get us to believe that you are some kind of God-appointed good guy without there being any truth to it? (When you ask me what I think you're trying to sell, that would be it.)

I'm still not buying it.

Ok; here is some general but real advise about the run you intend. 1. keep your keel out of the mud (motor or sail) carry extra impellers and know how and when to change same. 2. Be prepared to deal with draw bridges. 3. Beware dangerous inlets and know how to handle them. 4. Be alert for hurricanes and carry the lines and extra anchors to deal with them and know what and where to do it. 5. Be secure with your inland nav. aids you will have to follow some devious paths. 6. Be prepared to gunk hole late afternoon- evening thunderstorms with radical wind shifts common so use secure anchor system(not a single Danforth). 7. Know how to manage your fuel burn and where you can refuel. good luck its not all that difficult a challenge just enough to keep you on your toes.
