Best Route Ft. Myers to panama city Florida this weekend.

Hello,
I am new to this site and recently purchased a 42' post from north Carolina, and traveled down the intercoastal and across the okachobee, to Moore it in ft. Myers. Now we are going to try to get it home to orange beach Florida.
That being said, is there a safer route to travel this time of year ?
I don't mind taking a little longer, since the weather is hit and miss this time of the yr.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I hope to make it to Clearwater
And transient there on Friday night, then Saturday either going straight
Up to steinohatchee or carabelle, or Appalachicola...etc.etc..

I have made the run a few times. If the weather is ok run from Clearwater to Carabelle. Try not to leave or arrive in the dark too many crabtraps. Another route could be Taron Springs to Chrystal River then Steinhatchee and on to Carabelle if you go to Appalachicola be careful of the cut coming in. Just watch your weather it is a long way about 185 miles open water. If he is still there call Buddy at Carabelle he is he expert and he will help you pick a good window
