Beneteau 52 Swift Trawler's Price Tag Caught My Eye at FLIBS

So, I have been fairly in love with trawlers as my idea of a retirement plan (looking at 4-5 years to reach that point).

I love the Fleming 55 with a new price tag of about 2 million.

I just saw the Beneteau 52 swift trawler at FLIBS with a price of 1.1 million. The layot seemed very well thought out. Nowhere near the fit and finish of the Flemming but very nice in it's own respect.

This boat seems like a nice starting point before i retire to get into the game and game experience.

What are your experiences with the ride and stability of the boat offshore? (i would be cruising at 8-10 knot primarily)?

would this boat be good as a coastal cruiser as well as many trips to the bahamas?

Would this boat do well going from Florida to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic?

LEt me know what you guys think and I appreciate the responses

Thank you James,

I'm hoping someone here has some insight. I'll be sea-trialing the vessel myself to see. I was worried about such a lightweight, and the difference between this vessel and a true displacement vessels performance, if caught in a rough storm.

thanks again and i hope someone can chime in.

Timing can be everything when posting...some posts from folks in Europe or Asia get pushed to the back by the time the bulk of the members are up in the west.
Let us know how the sea trials go....take pictures!!

Hi and welcome. When you do your seatrial make sure you go on a day that is running at least 3 to 4 feet swells. Run the boat into, away, both beam, and all 4 quarters to the sea. displacement will become obvious. With your price range don't discount Navigator and Californian. Cheers.
