Exclamation US to introduce "BlueWater" cruising tax (in 2014?)

USCG registered vessels that are not permanently resident in a US State (and paying State taxes?) will be charged a 5% annual tax (will be interesting to see where they get the values from! - Yachtworld? ) and will also be required to notify the USCG of every country they visit within 24 hours of arrival (inspections to follow? ).

I guess it's all part of keeping you guys "safe" .

That will teach those wealthy cruising 1% folks!

Glad they are doing this, it is LONG overdue!

I wonder if this will be the great success the "Luxury Tax" was back in its day.

I guess that is a good reason to let my documentation lapse.

No worries, its for the children don't ya know.

I guess that means my boats will be registered only w the state and not the USCG.

April Fool's stories about new and ridiculous taxes are too easy. Too close to probably true.

Re: US to introduce "BlueWater" cruising tax (in 2014?)

I thought DOJ was referring to the recirculated blue juice found in some closed system heads. A tax on that would be just what it is worth.

Well disguised approach...and using USCG "registered" instead of "documented" - was nice bait.
