Re: Tropical depression forming off Bahamas

Yep, coming my way. I'll see how close it is gonna get to us before starting my annual sails on/ sails off the boat for this season. I'm getting too old for this stuff.
The weather patterns around here have gone to sh1t in the last 15yrs.

Re: Tropical Depression Forming off Bahamas

Zee, thanks for the thought.
When we were kids huricanes season was aug, sept, oct, and IIRC, it worked that way.
Now we go june to oct--and oct to may is canadian lows pounding us.
Not much fun any more, sails get heavier as I get older.

Depression 'upgraded' to Tropical Storm BRET

Tropical Depression TWO has deepened and is now a named Tropical Storm, Bret.

Current forecast cone has the storm tracking north of Bermuda, the islands falling just outside the cone.

Cruisers: the wiki needs content re: weather/extreme weather.

Re: Tropical Depression Forming off Bahamas

Blue STocking, I'll be pulling the little sailboat, a Trinka 12, out of the water every time you take the sails off. I'm betting Bret gives us a miss. I too am too old for this sh*t.

Hannah, if you leave the sails up maybe it will blow away and you will not have to haul and remove the sails and mast. This is natures way of helping us Older people get by...........

Re: Tropical Depression Forming off Bahamas

Oh, but I love the Trinka, called Mango time. We use her for sailing down here when we are land-based. She will take me and the captain and a six-pack of our beverage of choice for an afternoon sail. We have a forespar winch which will lift her out of the water and onto a Seitech dolly to roll into the house. Theoretically, I can do it alone, but actually it takes at least two to pull her over square onto the dolly before lowering her. But witha big enough blow threatening, I imagine the adrenalin would runand I could do it alone. Looks like Bret is going west of Bermuda.

Isn't this why they drink Dark and Stormies in Bermuda?
