New Use for Old Sails

A pair of enterprising Admirables in SoCal have entered the business of sewing up bags of old sails. One of their products is re-usable grocery bags, and they support beach cleanups and similar charitable events.

Business sews up a growing, yet green product line

Note they take old sail donations, so if you're in the region and have some boat ballast to get rid of...

What a neat idea, although you would want to ensure you buy a bag made out of freshly used racing sails insteady of old beatup, threadbare, salt encrusted and dirty cruising sails...

Ya, you are right. What would be better is for the freshly used racing sails to be donated to the cruisers who can then donate the crusty old sails for new bags... This is of coarse based on the stereotype of racing sails being just used for one season or less and then discarded...
