Lower Mississippi

Hi we are interested in the journey from Cairo to New Orleans. We are searching for trip planning advice re anchorages etc but have found very little. If any of the CF group have completed this adventure and have some advise please share with us. Cheers GEOFF

But as I said there are quite a few others.

Personally, I have a ton of experience on the Mississippi but it is all upriver from there so I can't help with anchorages other than to say I think there is a 150+ mile stretch with no fuel stops somewhere down there.

You've found very little because there is very little.

I grew up in Natchez, MS and have run most of the river from Vicksburg to the Gulf. There is very little recreational vessel traffic and thus very few facilities for such. Most facilities/services on the River are for commercial vessels.

You can find small boat marinas etc near NOLA and South of there, but anchroages or marinas are rare otherwise.
