Gibraltar -> Newfoundland May/June

Our boat (13M) has spent the past 15 years on the Med. We are thinking about bringing it back to Quebec.

Time constraints are such that we cannot sail the trades. Our window is from mid May until end of August. We want to be on the western side of the Atlantic as early as possible. Late June at the latest.

So the plan would be to leave around mid May. According to Cornell's Routes of the world, earlier is not advisable because the weather will be too cold once we get closer to Newfoundland, and later would place us at the beginning of the hurricane season. Not great.

If you have experience with such a passage, or suggestions, I'll be happy to read what you have to say.

I think you are placing to much emphasis on being back before July 1 (Hurricane season). The boats coming back from Bermuda (Newport to Bermuda and marion to bermuda) don't get back to New England until ist 10 days of July.
Every week past early May means less bad weather coming off the East coast US. Are you planning to stage major part of transit from Azores? It would be interesting what a wether router would advise re timing.
