National Geospatial - Intelligence Agency Sailing Directions

A friend passed this on to me as an alternative to purchasing piloting guides. Free downloads from the NGIA.
https://msi.nga.mil/
Select publications, Sailing Directions Enroute (or Planning).
I downloaded the Eastern Med, a lot of printing, 296 pages
Anyone have experience with this as a piloting guide?

You might also be interested in the NGIA’s “Atlas of Pilot Charts”, depicting averages in prevailing winds and currents, air and sea temperatures, wave heights, ice limits, visibility, barometric pressure, and weather conditions at different times of the year.
