Indian Cay passage with a west wind?

My wife and I are headed from Fort lauderdale to the Abacos in a couple days. It looks like we have a nice W/SW wind window coming up and our plan is to cross to Westend and then enter the bank either at Indian Cay, or memory rocks. We draw 4.5 feet. The winds are forecast to be out of the west 10-15 and I am wondering about entering the Indian Cay passage with wind and waves from that direction.

We have the explorer charts/coordinates which we are planning to use.

Also, we would plan to sail onto the back during the day when the light conditions are good, but once on the bank do people sail at night between there and Green Turtle Key follow the extablished routes laid out in the explorer charts and on chart plotters?

Thanks for any information folks can share. We sailed down to florida from Lake Superior and are looking forward to spending the winter in the Bahamas.

Re: Indian Cay passage with a west wind?

I went through Indian Cay cut in 2009 going E to W, with the wind opposing the current and it fetched up pretty good, maybe 3-4' and uncomfortably short period. I was in an IP35 with 4.5' draft and a 27hp diesel and made about 1.5-2kts SOG going through at 2700rpm. I didn't feel threatened, but it definitely had my full attention. I have been through on several other occasions and it has always been fine.
